Christmas Traditions

New Zealand

Similar to Australia and Africa, New Zealand celebrates Christmas during the summer holidays, so many families spend Christmas by the beach, or on picnics at the park.

New Zealanders celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ with a special service. Their traditional Christmas dinner is roast turkey with vegetables and sauces- and fruity Christmas pudding with brandy sauce for dessert.

The spirits and creatures of New Zealand's Maori culture resemble the elves and gnomes of European Christmas traditions.
