Christmas Carols

The tradition of Christmas Carols goes back as far as the 13th century. Deck the Halls, one of the most popular Christmas Carols, is said to be at least 200 years old.

Carols usually have a strong tune and consist of a verse and/or chorus for group singing. They are often based on medieval chord patterns.

Non-religious songs ("White Christmas" and "Frosty the Snowman", for example) are not Christmas Carols, though they are also popular during the Holiday Season, and are known as Christmas Songs.
